Village Lunch

The Village Lunch is held on the last Saturday of the month in the village hall and all members of the village community are invited to attend.  Lunch is provided for around 36 people at a reasonable price.  Currently the charge for a two-course lunch, followed by tea or coffee, is £6.50.  All ages are welcome and children are half-price for a half-portion.

The first lunches held in late September and November 2008 were a great success and attracted young and old from across the village.  New arrivals to Milborne St. Andrew were particularly welcome as were those who sometimes find it difficult to get out -it's a great place to meet other villagers.

The key to the success of the Village Lunch is the number of people wanting to get involved.  Many people attending the lunch contribute home-grown produce, others a raffle prize, others a bottle of wine to share.  Some volunteers serve the food or help to wash up afterwards.  Still other volunteers set out and tidy away the tables.  All in all, a great community effort.

As a result of everyone's generosity of time and donations we occasionally make a little "profit" over and above the actual costs.  So far this money has been distributed to these community organisations within the village:  Mosaic, The Wednesday Social Club, The Community Drop-In Centre and the Youth Club.  Suggestions as to which organisations might benefit in the future will be welcomed.

Tickets for the lunches in 2013 will be sold at the Coffee, Cake and Computers DropIn
at the Village Hall each Friday (10.00 a.m. - 12.00 noon)

We hope that this arrangement for ticket sales will prove to be fair for everyone who wishes to come.  We welcome your suggestions for future menus or ways in which we can improve the Village Lunch.
