A Great Success thanks to a Great
Community The Big Dorset Apple Cake fund-raising event passed on £1,400 to the Village Hall to help with on-going projects and general maintenance. Sponsorship was received from the Food and Wine Club (Hampers), The Royal Oak (giant cake centrepiece + wine), Our Village Shop - The Londis (Dorset Food and Drink), Langham Vineyard (Sparkling Wine), Blackmore Vale Dairies (6kg of Clotted Cream) and an anonymous Cash Donation. Not forgetting the First School who created the fabulous apple-themed bunting, the 70+ villagers who baked and donated Apple Cakes and the multitude who came to the event and purchased cakes. More than 700 raffle tickets were bought and the main prizes went to Richard Macnair, Sheila and Brian Burton, Rory Hunter and George Legg. A special "Thank you" to Jo-Anne and Ernst who's cake-making video, presented on Facebook, enthused many, many people to get involved. It can be viewed here. |
